The YMCA's health, fitness and sports programs are developmentally appropriate and help people at any stage of life build positive health habits. Participation in YMCA programs offers youth and adults opportunities for friendship and community, a sense of well-being, increased self-confidence and improved mental abilities.

THEATRE TYKES
Ages 5-6  | Thursdays 4:30-5:15pm
Curtain up on your child’s introduction to theatre! In this class, we will start the youngest stars out with simple games and learning how to be on stage. We will spend time getting comfortable sharing the stage and interacting with other performers. We will also learn theatre basics and etiquette. All skill levels welcome! Register here.


THEATRE I
Ages 7-11  | Thursdays 5:15-6:15pm
Want to learn about theatre? Want to try acting? Ever heard of improv? Think you have the chops to experience life on the stage? Join us for this class that will let you explore all the aspects of theater from drama to comedy to musicals to classics with some improv mixed in! This class will be a combination games and scene and monologue work- as well as a look into the audition process. See how theatre can help you live your best life! THEATRE II
Ages 12-15  | Thursdays 6:30-7:30pm
Ever feel like you belong on stage? Maybe you want to be a leading lady or a Prince Charming? Maybe think you would be the perfect villain? Now is your chance to find out what it is like to try theatre! In this class, we will use games and scene study to find characters and bring them to life. We will experiment with monologues and audition pieces that can be used in any audition setting! All skill levels welcome! Register here.

PICKLEBALL

Pickleball is a combination of tennis and badminton that is played by hitting whiffle balls with light-weight wooden paddles. The rules are simple and the game is relatively easy for beginners to learn. Played on a badminton court with a 3-foot high net.


 

BINGO

Bingo is a great way to bring people together to play an old favorite game and discover some new friendships.

Infants01Our Early Learning Academy has 2 locations at both Central Branch in Plano, IL and West Branch in Sandwich, IL.

We offer a full day / full year ages 0-3 years licensed program for Infants, Toddlers, and Twos where our highly trained and qualified teachers provide individualized care, create environments that support and encourage exploration, ensure children's health and safety and develop partnerships with families.

INFANTS (6 weeks - 15 months; 1:4 Ratio)
In the infant classroom, our primary emphasis is meeting the infant’s daily needs and providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. Children are provided with experiences that foster and develop their cognitive, social/emotional, and motor skills while encouraging their independence. Infants are engaged in developmentally appropriate toys, books, stories, and fingerplays throughout the day. They are learning through routines and attachments to their caregivers. Infant daily nap and meal schedule are based on the infant’s individual needs.

TODDLERS (16-24 months; 1:5 Ratio)
In the toddler classroom, children are introduced to a more structured and regular routine. Children are provided an environment that encourages exploration and curiosity through child-initiated and teacher-guided activities. Toddlers have opportunities to make choices in art, sensory, exploration, problem-solving, music, books, self-help skills, and interactive play. The toddler classroom provides a rest time as part of the daily schedule.

TWOS (1:8 Ratio)
In the two’s classroom, the children discover a stimulating environment arranged into various interest and learning centers. Our goal for our two-year-olds includes developing valuable self-help skills such as potty training, personal hygiene, dressing self and putting toys away. We also focus on building cognitive skills, such as counting, sorting, recognizing letters, colors, and shapes. Another important skill we work on is interacting with others. We have many opportunities for sharing, listening and taking turns. The two’s classroom provides a rest time as part of the daily schedule.

The Y offers many group fitness classes each week. Classes range from Les Mills BodyPump®to Yoga, and our schedule was designed with a variety of fitness enthusiasts in mind. Group exercise classes are included with your Y membership. Classes are subject to change, based on class size and seasonal fluctuations. The Group-Ex fitness pass gives non-members access to both land and aqua group fitness classes –– $50 for a 10 punch pass.

AQUA FITNESS
Aquatic fitness classes are included with your Y membership and are a fun, lower-impact way to get your body moving, improve strength and flexibility, and develop all-around fitness. Classes are offered throughout the week at 9:00 am and 7:30 pm. Monthly group fitness pass gives non-members access to both land and aqua group fitness classes.

ENHANCE® FITNESS
Enhance® Fitness is a proven, community-based senior fitness and arthritis management program. It helps older adults become more active, energized, and empowered for independent living. Each class will be led by a certified instructor and exercises will focus on cardiovascular endurance, strength, flexibility, and balance to help reduce the severity of arthritis symptoms. Older adults at all fitness levels are encouraged to participate. The program is especially beneficial for older adults living with arthritis. fitness center / group-ex reminders
Children under the age of 11 are not permitted in the Fitness Center/Group Exercise class unless participating in a kids fitness program authorized by the Y. Members and guests 11-13 years of age must be accompanied by an adult at all times in the fitness center/group exercise classes. Children under age 11 can attend Kids Zone (free with a Family Membership) while their parent or guardian attends a Group Exercise class. Children ages 11 -14 must complete an orientation prior to using the fitness center. Please make an appointment for the orientation at the Front Desk.


ORIENTATIONS, NUTRITION COUNSELING, FITNESS ASSESSMENT 

PERSONAL NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING
Registered Dietitian, Michelle LeMaistre, will work with you to develop an appropriate, nutrition-based lifestyle change to meet your personal needs. She will consider any dietary restrictions you have, discuss obstacles, and help you get on the right path to living a healthy lifestyle! You will have an initial consultation and follow up appointments per package. This is a great addition to your personal training package!

FITNESS ASSESSMENT
A great way to evaluate your current fitness level.  It includes a series of measurements to help determine your physical fitness including height, weight, body composition, blood pressure, muscular and cardiovascular endurance, and flexibility.

WELLNESS ROOM ORIENTATION
If you are new to the Y, or are unsure how to use some of the equipment in the fitness center, sign up for a FREE fitness orientation. Y Fitness Staff will help you become comfortable and familiar with our strength and cardio equipment. Please make an appointment at the Membership Desk.

Men's Noon Basketball (ages 18+)  |  central

The gym has been reserved for full court, pick-up games. We welcome all to come and participate in our open gym time but from 1-2 YMCA Members only. This allows guests use of the basketball courts only, no weight room usage allowed. YMCA Staff has the right to ask anyone to leave for any violations of the code of conduct. 

The YMCA offers a wide variety of dance classes for ages 18 months through 18 years for Yorkville, Somonauk, Plano, Sandwich and the surrounding areas. We have ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, and lyrical ballroom dance lessons available. Dance develops a person physically, artistically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially. Our qualified and professional instructors are here to offer your children the best dance classes possible.

Dance Recital Session
January 7- June 8

We want to show off all of your dancer’s hard work!  We will be showing off all of their hard work at our annual dance recital.  The dance recital will take place on June 8th at Yorkville Middle School at 2pm.  We will be having a dress rehearsal on June 7th and pictures will be taken on May 19th.  There is a $20.00 recital registration fee that will include a t-shirt and a trophy for your dancer.

Dancers will be measured for their costumes the 2nd week of the session during class. Costumes range from $50-$75.00 per class your child is in.  There are additional expenses such as pictures (if you chose to buy), DVD (if you chose to buy) and recital tickets.  Recital Tickets will be sold through an online website and WILL NOT be available at the door or through the Fox Valley Family YMCA.  You do have the option of having your child’s class bank drafted monthly.  The first month will be paid up front and the remaining months will be drafted automatically.

AGES 3-5 YEARS OLD

TINY TOES
Ages 2-3  | For our tiniest dancers! Dancers will explore the wonders of dance through songs, games, and props in a relaxed setting while teaching them the basics of dance and participate in a group class that will let them explore all that dance has to offer! Ballet attire with hair pulled back.

TEMPO TOES
Ages 4-5 | This class begins with a Circle Warm-up that may include sing-a-long songs or rhymes to keep the young dancers engaged. Students will work on strong arms, stretching their toes, balancing, twirling, and jumping. Ballet shoes required. Ballet attire with hair pulled back in a bun if possible.

TAPPIN' TOES
Ages 4-5 | An energetic dance class that you and your little one will just love! They will learn to develop a sense of rhythm, timing, build leg and feet strength, flexibility, and coordination. Tap shoes are required. Ballet attire. Hair pulled back into a bun if possible.


AGES 5-7 YEARS OLD

INTRO TO DANCE
Ages 5-7 | New to dance? This class will demonstrate the basics of different styles of dance. Ballet, jazz, tap, and more will be taught in a creative atmosphere. Ballet or jazz shoes and attire required. Hair pulled back and in a bun if possible.

BEGINNER BALLET/JAZZ
Ages 5-7 | A chance for your child to explore the basics and foundations of beginning ballet and jazz. Instruction focuses on flexibility, coordination, conditioning, techniques, and the fundamentals of ballet, jazz, and overall fun! Ballet or jazz shoes and attire required. Hair pulled back and in a bun if possible.

BEGINNER BALLET/TAP
Ages 5-7 | Students are introduced to the basic ballet steps and proper techniques. This class will help students understand rhythm and timing needed in all dance. Basic steps will be taught. Ballet AND Tap shoes required. Ballet or jazz attire required. Hair pulled back and in a bun if possible.


AGES 7+ YEARS OLD

BALLET I
Ages 7+ | Students are introduced to basic ballet technique, including turn-out posture while building confidence and learning elementary performing skills. Ballet shoes and attire required. Hair pulled back and in a bun if possible.

JAZZ I
Ages 7+ | This class will include strength, flexibility, and conditioning technique and progressions including turns, kicks, and leaps. Dancers will learn choreography to popular and age-appropriate music of today along with vintage styles of jazz from the last decades. Ballet or jazz attire and shoes required. Hair pulled back in a bun if possible.

TAP I
Ages 7+ | Students will work on increasing the speed of steps and combining steps together while trying to make correct sounds. Tap shoes required. Ballet or jazz required. Hair pulled back and in a bun if possible.  

HIP HOP I
Ages 7+ | Hip Hop classes combine street dance with funk and jazz, similar to what you would see in televised dance performances or music videos. Students learn isolations and dynamics to execute pop-and-lock and funk movements. Jazz shoes or clean gym shoes required. Hair pulled back.

LYRICAL I
Ages 7+ | Lyrical dance is a style that combines ballet and jazz dancing techniques and it is performed with music with lyrics that inspire strong emotions. Jazz or ballet shoes and attire. Hair pulled back in a bun if possible.

Welcome to the Fox Valley Family YMCA Music Academy. The academy offers music lessons in piano, guitar, drums, violin, viola, woodwinds, and brass instruments. Piano lessons start at age four. All other instruments begin at age seven.

Swim STARTERS
(Parent & Child)

Level A & B  |  Accompanied by a parent, infants and toddlers learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills through fun and confidence-building experiences, while parents learn about water safety, drowning prevention, and the importance of supervision.

Swim Level C  |  NEW! Tadpole swim lessons will help your child transition from parent-child classes to preschool basics classes. This class is great for first time swim students ages 2-1/2-4. 


Swim Basics

Level 1-3  |  Students learn personal water safety and achieve basic swimming competency by learning two benchmark skills: Swim, float, swim, jump, push, turn, grab.
These skills will make your child safe to swim short distances and climb out of the water.


Swim Strokes

Level 4-6  |  Having mastered the fundamentals, students learn additional water safety skills and build stroke technique, developing skills that improve health and well-being and prepare them for a lifetime of physical fitness and swim team.

*Levels 3-6 require evaluation with a passing certificate to register at the front desk.

Ages 4-12  |  March 25 - May 17  |  $70M/$90NM  |  Central
Don’t miss a chance to join one of our most popular youth sports programs –– Spring Soccer League is designed to develop players’ skills, understanding of the game and elevate each players ability to play! Teams are co-ed, registration includes a team t-shirt. Practices are one day a week on Monday or Wednesday at 5 or 6 p.m. Games on Saturdays.

  • Summer Camp at West Branch Campus (628 S. Main St., Sandwich, IL). Children will experience the same once-a-week field trip opportunities AND swim twice-a-week at Central Branch. Rates, camp info, and schedules will be the same as Central Branch.
  • EXPRESS PICKUP through text message! It’s simple, with 10 minutes notice, your child will be waiting at sign out. The express pickup phone number will be provided upon registration.
  • New Field Trips (TBA on Healthy Kids Day)
