Healthy Kids Day encourages kids to stay active and keep learning all summer long while raising funds for a chosen community organization.

On Saturday, April 27, from 1-3pm the Y is hosting a free community event to inspire kids to keep their minds and bodies active this summer at Healthy Kids Day®, the Y’s national initiative to improve health and well-being for kids and families. Healthy Kids Day will feature activities such as open gymnastics, aqua track, arts and crafts, kids fitness demos, sports demos and face time with community organizations who cater to children’s health and wellness. This event is generously sponsored by Northwestern Medicine and Olive Garden.

In addition, the Y is highlighting a local organization whose mission is to foster the learning and growth of all children. The Y is excited to announce the Plano Family Resource Center as the event’s “Chosen Community Organization”. With community participation, the Y will raise funds to help the resource center purchase supplies needed to expand their program by challenging participants to an 8-station obstacle course inspired by 8 preschool developmental milestones.  All proceeds from the obstacle course will be donated to fulfill a "wish list" created by the Plano Family Resource Center

“When a child is healthy, happy, and supported they can make great things happen,” says Laurel Mateyka, PH Miller Principal. “We believe in the potential of all children, and we strive to help kids find that potential within themselves. Collaborating with Plano Family Resource Center to provide these opportunities beyond the doors of the Y is an important part of fulfilling our mission,” said Amy Peterson, School Aged Child Care Director.

It's easy to donate! Donations can be added to any regular transaction. OR pre-register for the 8-station obstacle course by calling 630-552-4100. 100% of proceeds will be donated to Plano Family Resource Center.
